In Search of the Healthy Classroom

Abstract: This course examines strategies for evaluating and improving indoor air quality and ventilation performance in K–12 classrooms, as presented in the TAB Journal article “In Search of the Healthy Classroom.” Participants will review how testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) professionals assess filtration, air distribution, building pressure, and ventilation rates to determine whether existing HVAC systems meet current guidelines and occupancy requirements. The presentation highlights common deficiencies found in school facilities, including inadequate airflow, aging equipment, and system limitations when higher-efficiency filtration is introduced. Attendees will gain insight into how certified TAB findings support corrective actions, improve occupant health and comfort, and help school districts align with ventilation and performance objectives.
